Welcome! I am Seyit Hökelek, an astrophysicist, data scientist, and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Astronomy and Space Sciences at Erciyes University in Türkiye.
My research is at the crossroads of observational cosmology and computational astrophysics. I’m mainly interested in understanding the extreme environments of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and quasars. I’m currently working on my doctorate, where I’m looking into the Eigenvector-1 and Baldwin Effect in quasars. I’m using optical spectroscopy and machine learning techniques to figure out the physical mechanisms and energy conversion processes that govern these supermassive black hole systems.
Could the combination of Eigenvector-1 and the Baldwin Effect reduce the scatter in quasar luminosity estimators enough to use them as reliable standard candles for investigating the Hubble tension?
